Description
Harry Phelan Gibb (1870-1948)
Phelan Gibb first exhibited ceramics at the Allied Artists Association exhibition at the Royal Albert Hall in 1909. In December 1914, he exhibited at the Bloomsbury Group’s Omega Workshops and may have also contributed designs for their ceramics and furnishings. Further exhibitions of his ceramic work were held in Chelsea in 1917 and at the Betty Joel galleries in 1928 & 1929. Notably, the bowl and two ceramic vases depicted in this painting were crafted by Gibb himself. A similar, if not the same, bowl was exhibited at the Towner Museum’s Lucy Wertheim: A Life in Art exhibition in 2022.

Available works by Modern British artists.
