Charles Williams PRWS, NEAC (b.1965) – My Animal Nature

Doone Valley Gallery are delighted to present My Animal Nature a solo exhibition of recent paintings by Charles Williams.

Even though he was born in Evanston, Illinois, Charles Williams is a British artist. He is the President of the Royal Watercolour Society, a member of the New English Art Club and a founder member of the notorious Stuckist art movement.

Williams’ new works try to explain animals through their relationships with us, exploring the belief that our encounters with them are always doomed to be one-sided and that the relationships are metaphorical, allegorical and analogical. In short, his animals have human qualities because that’s how we view them. Further motivation for Charles’ focus on Animals is an attempt to shift the narratives that arise with human figure groupings.

Charles Williams studied at Maidstone College of Art and the Royal Academy Schools. He has exhibited extensively at all the principal exhibitions including the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, New English Art Club, the Royal Watercolour Society and in many other public and commerical galleries worldwide.
