Glyn Rushworth Biography
Glyn was born in Yorkshire in 1965 and spent most of his childhood in the countryside or at home drawing at the kitchen table. The first job he held as a schoolboy was as a beater on a local shoot, he has had a keen interest in field sports ever since and is particularly passionate about shooting and field craft.
Glyn left school and joined the Royal Air Force to pursue an engineering career where a passion for aircraft and the military machine developed. It was during his time in the Air Force that Glyn began painting in earnest.
As a self taught artist Glyn feels his way through a painting and he describes the process as ‘an all consuming passion’. These days Glyn spends most of his time in the studio; but whenever the light is good, or a cloud formation interesting, he is a familiar sight walking the fields with a camera and sketch book collecting valuable reference material for future projects. ‘Having travelled extensively and lived abroad for many years, home is now is rural Lincolnshire. ‘I’m lucky enough to have escaped the hustle and bustle of urban sprawl and have the countryside just outside my door. Each new painting is a voyage of discovery. Through art I see things as never before and can only marvel at the visionary feast our beautiful landscape and wildlife bestows upon us each day. I can only hope that one day I shall be able to do it the justice it deserves.’
