Description
Michael Barnfather is a leading landscape painter in both oils and watercolours. He was born at Ikeston near Derby in 1934 and spent his early years in Belper. He studied at Derby College of Art in 1950 and had his first exhibition at Belper Art Club in 1951. Shortly afterwards he found a work as a technical artist for Rolls Royce before National Service in the R.A.F. from 1955 to 1957. Stationed at Shrewsbury he was fortunately able to continue art studies at Shresbury College of Art. Michael Barnfather became a full-time artist in 1964 after his exhibition at McPhersons Gallery, Bristol.
