Description
Simeon Stafford (b.1956) biography
Simeon Stafford (b.1956) was born in Dukinfield, Tameside, Greater Manchester in 1956. He was introduced to L.S.Lowry after winning the Robert Owen School Award for Art and the Manchester News Portrait Award. Lowry then became a friend of the family and encouraged Simeon to study art. In the early 1970s Simeon studied at Hyde College and in 1974, became a professional artist exhibiting his work in mixed exhibitions throughout the north of England and London. In 1996, Stafford moved to Cornwall where the strong colours and light had a big impact on his work.
A book about the artist’s life and work was written by Jonathan Riley in 2010 and published by Construction Arts Limited. Now out of print, copies of the book are scarce and as a result are more than three times the original retail price on the secondary market.

Simeon has had numerous solo exhibitions as well as works accepted for the prestigious Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. His work is in numerous public and private collections including the Astley Cheetham Art Gallery and Belfast City Hospital, other notable owners of his work include Her Majesty The Queen and Tony Blair.
