Description

In June 1966, Vibeke Gårdmand gathered a circle of different artists and supporters around her and founded Det Lille Teater. There were many theaters for adults, but not a single theater house for children in Copenhagen, until the early 1960s. When a larger group of people got together in 1966, it resulted in the Little Theater opening its doors for the first time on 31 August 1966 for a theater performance for children. It was in the back house of Lavendelstræde 5-7.

Det Lille Theatre employed some of the leading Scandinavian and European artists and designers to produce the posters for their productions – these posters are praised for their graphic qualities and are very scarce and sought after.
